Kroger Shopping

I packed up little face for some Wednesday shopping. We had two stores to hit to get some great deals I was going to try to stay within budget this week. Sad to say again I did not make it by $10.00. I was trying to cut back to $40.00, since I spent so much on diapers last week. When I made the diaper purchase I had enough diapers to last for a month and it was a great deal. Check out my Target trip here.

This week we went to Sprouts and Kroger for our major grocery shopping. Sprouts is a small mostly organic and fresh food store. It is similar to Whole Foods just not as big. The prices on produce are almost as good as Aldi. And I enjoy shopping there better than shopping at Aldi.

Link up is below!
Here is how I did at Sprouts & Kroger:

Bulk Bins:
0.96 lb Coconut Almond Granola @ $2.49 lb
             -Final $2.39
2.94 lbs Brown Rice @ $0.69 lb
-Final $2.03
Produce:
1.38 lb Braeburn Apples @ $0.88 lb
 -Final $1.21
1.67 lb Jona Gold Apples @ $0.88 lb
 -Final $1.47
1.36 lb White Onions @ $0.49 lb
-Final  $0.67
3 Cucumbers @ $.69 each
            -Final $2.07
Altogether I spent $9.64 for around 10 pounds of food.  I also received a bag credit of $0.05 for four bags used for a total of $0.20 off my order. I love to spend less than a dollar a pound for food.
I still don’t know the layout of the Kroger store all that well. I shopped at Walmart for 10 years and since I started couponing I am using Kroger. What I think makes sense to me where an item should be it is on the opposite side of the store. It still takes me a while to shop, and little face gets impatient because I have to think a while to put a deal together or we are going all around the store looking for something.

At Kroger I had some really great deals I researched from Southern Savers and Bluegrass Savers. This is my best shopping trip so far. I almost hit the 70% saved mark which is my goal. However, I did discover that my Kroger will no longer allow you to stack ecoupons with regular coupons. I told them I would have to put back some items, since I was going to be over my budget for the week. So they did it for me for this trip, but they will not do it again. Darn I was really getting the hang of this thing.

I did get a $5.00 gift card off my next trip by purchasing the 4 boxes of cereal. I also received a catalina for $0.50 off my next trip for purchasing Dole fruit. At Cellfire yesterday I also won $0.50 off my next Kroger trip. So I am starting off next week $6.00 ahead of budget. I can’t possibly go over next week with a $6.00 cushion. We will see.

I didn’t know I had a $2.00 money maker on the toothbrushes. That was a surprise once I got home. Little face was not happy when I was picking out the dressings. I really wanted the lite version in Ranch and Bleu Cheese, but they did not carry those. So I accidentally placed another one in my cart while I was deciding.

  3. Great job Amy! Diapers are so expensive, I don't know what will happen to my groceries budget when the little ones come along. Have you begun any potty training?

  4. Yes this week is potty training boot camp. :) I mean that lovingly. I am trying no diapers and sitting on the potty every hour. Mornings are great. Afternoons when the kids get here is a little hectic.

  5. Great job Amy! I need to start potty training with my little one soon....we are going on a 2 week vacation in early june, so I thought it would be better to wait until after we get back. Good luck!

  6. Thanks. I am hoping he will be ready by June. My daughter took a long time to train. I hear it is really about a 6 month journey. That sounds more realistic than a few weeks. Good luck after June. I am sure you will have some great stories. Thanks for following me. Your video got me hooked.

  7. Hi, I'm a new follower. I saw your post linked up on another site, so I thought I would check it out. My 20 mo old is wanting to potty like her big sister. I've been putting off really puching potty training because I just dont think she is ready yet, but who am I to say. Her sister pretty much trained herself at about 27 mo old. One day she just decided to drop them and sit on her potty and we did the run around naked for about a week and that was it. Except overnight of course. I hope this one will be that easy! Good luck!

  8. Thanks. He has moments where he will not get off the potty. Then he has moments where he cries when you try to get him on the potty. So I am just taking it easy. But using just regular underwear and shorts when we are at home seems to be working well, since he knows when he goes. Then he will run to the potty.
